The World Intellectual Property Day 2025 theme is here!

       The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) invites all Member States and stakeholders to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day (WIPD) on April 26, 2025, under the theme: Intellectual Property and Music: Feeling the Beat of Intellectual Property.

　　Music enriches every aspect of our lives, from the rhythms that invite us to dance to the lyrics that resonate with our emotions. Music is a universal form of creative expression, and intellectual property rights (IPRs) play a pivotal role in supporting a vibrant and diverse musical landscape.

　　Music permeates every industry sector, and intellectual property rights promote the impact of music beyond its own domain. From film, entertainment and technology, to fashion, video games and consumer goods, IP empowers music to connect across industries, facilitating the realization of cross-industry creative synergies and innovations that drive economic growth. The beats and rhythms of music and IP are always present in our lives, even when we don't realize it.

　　World Intellectual Property Day 2025 highlights how creativity and innovation, supported by intellectual property rights, keep the music industry thriving for the benefit of everyone around the world. This year's World IP Day invites us to explore how intellectual property and innovation policies can empower creators, innovators and businesses to bring new ideas to the music industry, and to protect the work of songwriters, composers, performers and all those who shape the music that moves us.
